Traveling is all about new experiences, but staying connected safely is just as important as booking the right hotel or packing your essentials. It can be tricky though. Whether you’re using public Wi-Fi at airports, cafes, or hotels, your personal data might be at risk. That’s where NordVPN comes in. A reliable VPN not only protects your online privacy, but also helps you access your favourite content from anywhere in the world. From securing your sensitive information to bypassing geo-restrictions, here’s why NordVPN is the best VPN for travelers.

But before I tell you why NordVPN is the best VPN for travelers, let’s cover some basics.
What is a VPN?
A VPN (Virtual Private Network) keeps your internet connection private and secure. It works by hiding your real IP address and encrypting your data, so no one can see what you’re doing online
VPNs are kind of like a secret tunnel for your internet traffic. Normally your internet provider can see all the websites you visit. But with a VPN, all that data gets scrambled and sent through the VPN’s servers instead. This makes it harder for anyone to track what you’re doing online.
It also lets you appear as if you’re in a different location, which can help you access websites, streaming services, or content that might be blocked in your country. Think of it as a secure tunnel for your internet traffic, keeping your online activity private and safe.

what is a VPN used for?
Well, as mentioned above, for protecting your Internet connection and ensuring privacy, security, and unrestricted access to the Internet, especially when traveling.
Here are some examples of instances where a VPN, and specifically NordVPN, will protect your data:
Online banking
A VPN protects your online banking by adding an extra layer of security to your internet connection. When you connect to your bank’s website or app, sensitive information like your login credentials, account numbers, and transaction details are transmitted over the Internet. A VPN encrypts this data into an unreadable code. So, even if someone intercepts the data, they won’t be able to decipher it. This is especially important when using public Wi-Fi, which is notoriously insecure.
A VPN also masks your real IP address making it harder for anyone to track your online activity or pinpoint your location. This can help prevent people from knowing where you are when you are doing your online banking.

Blocked or Restricted Content
A VPN lets you bypass geo-restrictions to access websites, apps, and streaming services, even if they’re blocked in your current location. For example, in some countries, governments censor or restrict access to news websites and other sources of information, like The Guardian in Vietnam. A VPN can help you find a way around these restrictions and allow easy and uninterrupted access. The same with social media, sports and gaming.
Streaming
Speaking of skipping geo-restrictions, a VPN allows you to manipulate your location, making the streaming services think you’re in a different country. This gives you access to a much greater variety of movies, TV shows and programmes to watch. And since not all content is available in different countries, a VPN also allows you to keep watching your favourite shows while constantly changing locations – aka traveling.

That’s basically what I mostly use my NordVPN for. Read more about it here 🙂
Connecting to hotels and AirBnbs’ WiFi
Hotel Wi-Fi networks are often public or poorly secured, making them a target for hackers. A VPN encrypts your data, like passwords, emails, credit card info, making it private and unreadable for cybercriminals. It also hides your browsing activity, so hotels and AirBnb owners can’t track what websites you visit or collect your personal information.

Booking tickets
Apart from its main purpose – keeping your sensitive data secure – a VPN can be super useful while booking plane, train or any other tickets. Sometimes, airlines, hotels and ticket websites can show different prices based on your location. With a VPN, you can switch to different countries and compare prices to find cheaper deals. Not to mention, that some deals can be only available in certain regions. You can easily access those location-specific promotions that might not be available in your country by switching your VPN location. And since some websites track your visits and increase prices if they see you searching multiple times, a VPN will hide your identity, so you get fair prices without artificial price hikes.

I first discovered that you can’t buy train tickets in certain countries without VPN while trying to book my Bangkok – Chiang Mai journey with the famous sleeper train. I was in the UK at that time and the Thai railway website wouldn’t load at all without having a Thai VPN on. NordVPN saved me then. So you know, if you’re planning this journey or any other train journey in a different country, get NordVPN now.

Remote working
If you’re a digital nomad, a freelancer or you simply work from home, you know how important a secure connection is. Sometimes companies even require their employees to protect their Internet connection during work time with a VPN. It allows safe access to company networks, protects login credentials, and ensures privacy from internet providers or third parties. Additionally, a VPN helps bypass geo-restrictions, ensuring unrestricted access to essential work tools and websites.

I know you’re probably sick of reading about protection, data encryption and bypassing geo-restrictions. I probably used those words way too many times already. But well, that’s what a VPN does. And when you’re traveling, you basically need to cover all those instances at once. And this is where NordVPN comes in. Because the easiest thing you can do to stay safe online and access the internet freely, no matter where you are, is to click on this link and get yourself NordVPN!
So, why is Nordvpn the best VPN for travelers?
Because I say so 🙂 But if my word isn’t enough (and it totally shouldn’t be) here are a few more reasons that I’ve compiled into a list for you:
It’s one of the fastest VPNs out there!
Whenever I use NordVPN I’ve never noticed it reducing my download speeds. Even PCMag voted it the fastest VPN in their guide. And that’s real good news for travelers, as not every country has super fast internet. Well, NordVPN won’t make it faster, but it definitely won’t slow it down!

No bandwidth or data limits for VPN traffic
You can use the internet like you normally would as much as you want, anywhere in the world.
You can connect up to 10 devices with one account
This is a huge amount. Most of us don’t even have 10 devices. But if you do, you can have NordVPN on all the devices you take traveling with you, plus a few you leave at home. They have apps for all the major platforms, such as iOS, MacOS, Windows, Android, etc. Plus they have browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

7200+ servers in 118 countries
Again, that’s so many options, and such a huge variety! Wherever in the world you are, there’s a server for you.
Threat Protection Pro™ helps to block malicious sites, ads, and trackers
When you’re traveling, you obviously connect to a lot of new and different looking sites, often in languages you don’t know. So this is definitely a useful, extra piece of protection when you browse.
NordVPN protects its users
They don’t monitor, record, log or store information about you and your online activities. So you know, using NordVPN might be the only way to give yourself some privacy in this crazy world.
It’s trusted by experts!

What do i use NordVPN for?
Ok, this will sound a little childish, because I know that NordVPN is this serious tool that protects your Internet connection and I do use it when dealing with my online banking, working etc. But you know what I use NordVPN mainly for?
For watching Netflix:P And using my social media. But let’s start with Netflix.
After I moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, I discovered one heartbreaking thing – Danish Netflix was crap. So crap that it didn’t have any of my favourite shows on. You know, those “security blanket” shows, like Friends or The Big Bang Theory. Shows that you’ve watched so many times, that you can just put them on in the background and continue with your day.
NordVPN saved me…again. 2 extra clicks and all my favourite shows were available. After a few weeks, I was putting NordVPN on without even thinking about it. It became my mini habit.
And as the winter and darkness continued, I got Disney + and discovered the same thing. Danish Disney + was also crap. 😛 Needless to say, that I was very grateful for my NordVPN.
The same goes for watching Netflix while traveling. But then I didn’t have that much time for Netflix. Ohh good times.

By the way, if you were ever wondering which country’s Netflix is the best, it’s Hong Kong. It has all the shows and all the movies that other countries’ Netflix(es) don’t.
What about social media?
After I started traveling, I quickly discovered that the function on Instagram stories that lets you caption what you’re saying, works only in English speaking countries. At the time I was talking “to my phone” a lot, well, to people who were watching my stories, sharing my travel experiences and I definitely didn’t feel like manually writing it all down. NordVPN to the rescue once more! Since then I had a British VPN on all the time and was truly convinced that NordVPN is the best VPN for travelers.
Ok, I think I’m done.
If everything I wrote above didn’t convince you that you should be using a VPN, NordVPN in particular, I don’t know what will. But you know what, you don’t have to listen to me or anyone else. You can buy NordVPN and if you don’t like it in the first 30 days, you can simply get your money back.

I also hope I didn’t bore you too much. I realize that a VPN is not a very fascinating topic, but super important. No-one wants their data to be stolen. So if I could sum up all of NordVPNs’ advantages in one sentence, I’d say that NordVPN is like having a bodyguard for your personal data. It does all the protecting, without you having to think about it.
So what do you think? Are you ready to start protecting your online life?
